Australia Football versus American Football.

Of the many things that I am learning about Aussie culture is Football and is engrained. It is called Footy. The players don't wear helmets or any protective gear. The games are about 15 minutes longer. The half time and pre-game entertainment is more interesting and enjoyable. I can see this at every game though.

Then, there is rugby. It is based on similar rules. I never could keep up with the players. I am not into it. It is just as entertaining any movie or soap opera. Every year, a big entertainment half time show is put up at this event called the State of Origin. It is about the equivalent of the Superbowl in the US. Usually it is between Queensland and NSW blues. the action between the fans is just as intense, as the game itself.

Back in the US, football is a big thing.As it was in Texas, the team of choice was the Dallas Cowboys going to the Superbowl. The fans were rowdy and loud. They would go around saying," "How 'bout 'em Cowboys."

 

I didn't know that much about it. I knew to always root for the winning team. I remember one year that a co-worker that gotten the winning Superbowl 1995 football signed by the quarterback for the Dallas Cowboys. I was living in Dallas at the time.

 Then,I learned about the Australia version of the same game where the players didn't wear any protective gear. It was confusing to me beause I didn't have any knowledge about the game,but I did enjoy the halftime show and pre-game for the State of Origin.

I watch as entertainment because kills time even though I don't know anything about rugby. I just find it a good way to kill boredom. But, the fans on both side can be rowdy and do crazy things such as get into brawls with other fans. They destroy property and cause problems in bars where the game is being televised.

The State of Origin is the Australia version of the Superbowl. It draw celebrities and politicians to  the game. They come for the most important reason is enjoy themselves and to spend time with their families most of all.

Lawyers in Australia, in certain states, are divided between barristers and solicitors in different jurisdictions. The legal profession is not fused in certain parts of Australia and inherited the tradition from the England. Barrister are the lawyers that handle larger legal matters and argue cases before appeal courts and High Courts, as well as, arguing cases before the High Court of Australia. Solicitors and Barristers wear robes like the picture below. The solicitor is not required to wear a wig, but the barrister is.


Some of the wigs have been worn by others and start to fade. I know if I can get become a barrister. I won't buying a used wig because it can carry skin diseases from other people even lice and not knowing where it has been. I will clean my barrister's wig often and keep it looking clean and pristine.  I will work at getting licensed in the US at the same time. It is looking at apart of history from era long ago. I have seen lawyers wear wigs in England from pictures and movies. I found out that Australia carried over the tradition.

I read that one barrister said that the wig starts look better with age. I am not so certain using a wig that someone wore at one time is a good idea. It is a good idea to wear one for court,but I believe it should be a brand new one rather than used one.


There is much debated in Australia about ditching the wig altogether and coming into the modern era. The lawyers in Canada and US do not wear the wigs and the legal profession is fused. Let me know what you think about barristers wearing wigs should they ditch the wig altogether or keep it.

In my search get the information right on what it will take become a lawyer in both countries has been a hunt. There is not a lot of information or there is very little information. I feel relieved that I can provide the information for people who want to know and be able ask the questions might come up.

It takes bit of leg work to get it right. If you want to know information really bad, you will go to great links to find the information and ask questions. Once you find the information, you feel freer and can rest easier. Sometimes, it just take one person to find the information and willing to ask the questions. It is very refreshing to find out information and to be free.

Sometimes the only way to blaze trails to is be the first. Sometime, This a part of the journey becoming free. Just like Ruth Foster sings about. It is a part of the adventure to be able to ask questions. I put out a resource together regarding legal practice in Australia and the US. I believe a lawyer who is well verse and well traveled globally has advantages  over a lawyer is segmented and without knowledge. It is there for the world to see. I found about the bar exam and there is information on it. I went research information on a practicing certificate to be able to practice law in Australia.
